Under the supervision of the chef, the essential responsibilities and functions of this position are, but not limited to:
• Assist the chef, follow their instructions in preparing and making dishes while learning from them
• Learn all dishes on the menu, the recipes and kitchen rules
• Learn and understand the workings of all kitchen equipment
• Oversee the cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas, utensils and equipment
• Comply with the department’s service standards, policies, procedures and rules
• Comply with all food safety policies and standards when manipulating food and beverages
• Comply with occupational health and safety standards
• Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of your environment and workstation before, during and after your work shift
• Respect the tidiness and cleanliness of the fridges
• Clean kitchen appliances and work environments when required
• Dress professionally (kitchen vest, black pants, apron and hat)
• Consistency and regularity in your daily tasks

Qualifications:
• Previous experience in a culinary field required
• A diploma or certificate in institutional cooking is considered an advantage

• Physical aspects of the position:
• Constant: walk and stand for the entire duration of the work shift
• Lift and carry charges weighing up to 14 kg (30 lb)
• Occasionally: kneel, push, pull, lift
• Occasionally: go up and down ladders, stairs and ramps
